The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Guide

Springtime is known for its sense of new beginnings and fresh starts. A time for people to reflect on the year they have had so far and make any changes that they feel are necessary. Maybe you want to change how often you see friends, how much money you spend, or your cleaning routine. Either way, take this time to reflect and make the changes you desire.

If one of the ways you’d like to improve involves cleaning, then we’re your team to assist you! As a plumbing company, we have a slightly different perspective on what your spring cleaning priorities should be, and we’re happy to share them with you. If you need any assistance in tackling your spring cleaning checklist, we’re also here to help with that!

Below are some of the spaces we add to our spring cleaning list every year.

Clean Your Water

There are so many reasons to consider upgrading your home’s water purification system! With cleaner water, you won’t need to rely on plastic water bottles (saving the planet and saving you money), you’ll be able to drink straight from the tap, and you won’t need to worry about what kinds of toxic chemicals are entering your body through your water supply.

There are a few different systems to consider when making your water purification selection.

Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System

Reverse osmosis drinking water systems effectively remove up to 90% of the contaminants in tap water. You can choose either a whole house reverse osmosis system or a point-of-use system. There are perks to both of them. A whole-house system will be much more expensive but will purify the water coming out of all plumbing fixtures. A point-of-use system is far less expensive but will only purify the water on that particular faucet.

Water Softeners

If your concern revolves around hard water and not necessarily contaminated water, then a water softener is the right choice for you. A water softener will remove minerals like calcium and magnesium from water. In Southern California, hard water is particularly a big problem.

Hard water is the cause of many problems, including:

  • Dry skin and hair
  • Faded clothes
  • Bad tasting or smelling water
  • Scale buildup on fixtures and appliances
  • Stained sinks and bathtubs
  • Water spots on dishware
  • Higher water bills
  • Decreased lifespan of water appliances

Clean Your Drains

Drain cleaning is another important aspect of maintaining a clean and well-kept home. You can eliminate the need for extensive drain cleaning by properly caring for your drains and avoiding certain items, but if your drain ever gets clogged, contact a drain cleaning professional.

Cleaning Vintage Homes

Are you an owner of a historic Pasadena vintage home? If so, remember that deep cleaning your house will require a little bit more work in order to make sure that nothing is damaged in the process. Make sure that whoever you bring into your home to provide professional cleaning or maintenance services has specific training with vintage homes.
